The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory had many building hazards that endangered workers' lives. These included locked and blocked exits, inoperable fire escapes, and overcrowding. Had safety codes been followed, this tragedy could have been avoided. Following the fire, laws pertaining to building requirements were implemented to ensure workers' safety, sanitation and welfare. Laws also required employers to be more accountable for their employees and prepare them for potential emergencies.
