After the fire the New York legislature created the Factory Investigating Commission (FIC) to investigate factories, seeking safety violations and recommending improvements to workplace conditions throughout New York. From 1911-1914 thirty-six FIC recommendations were enacted into law. These laws focused on child labor, sanitation, maternity leave, and working hours.
